KATHMANDU: The senior economist of the country Dr. Govinda Bahadur Thapa has died due to coronavirus infection. Thapa, who suffered from Covid-19 infection, died at the Shaheed Ganga Lal Hospital around 5 am on Monday.
Thapa was cremated at Pashupatinath Aryaghat on Tuesday. Thapa, who was an advisor to the then Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari, is a former executive director of Nepal Rastra Bank. When Surendra Pandey was the Finance Minister, the government had given him an opportunity to work in the Asian Development Bank.
Former Finance Minister Pandey said the party and the country had lost a good man.
Born in Pokhara, Thapa has a wife, a son and a daughter.
