Senior leaders cast votes, PM Deuba in Dadeldhura, KP Oli at Bhaktapur

KATHMANDU: Political party leaders, including Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, have cast their votes in their constituencies across the country.

Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba cast his ballot in local level election today.

PM Deuba visited the Asigram Secondary School at Ruwakhola in Ganyapdhura rural municipality in Dadeldhura district in the morning to exercise his franchise.

Meanwhile, NC central members Ramesh Lekhak and NP Saud and CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Bina Magar also visited their respective polling centres in Kanchanpur district today to take part in the voting.

According to Chief Election Officer Madan Bahadur Dhami, voting process continues in all 341 polling centres in the district. The election, being held in a single phase, is underway since 7:00 am today.

Likewise, CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli cast his ballot under the local level election at the Mahendra Shanti Secondary School polling station A at Balkot of Surya Binayak Municipality-2 today.

His spouse, Radhika Shakya, who had accompanied him to the polling centre, also cast her vote.

Talking to media in brief after casting his ballot, the former Prime Minister and leader of the main opposition party, Oli, said the voters have been voting in a peaceful and enthusiastic manner across the country, barring some sporadic incidents.

“The UML, which is standing against the ruling alliance by itself in the election, will win more seats than the alliance,” the UML Chair said.

Prachanda votes in Chitwan

CPN ( Maoist Center) Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘ Prachanda’ cast his ballot from the polling station based in Nepal Police School, Shantipur of Bharatpur metropolis-14, Chitwan.

Talking to media after the voting, the leader urged voters to exercise their right to vote with confidence and enthusiasm. He described the local level as the foundation for people’s trust and prosperity, peace and stability in the nation.

Responding to a journalist query, he said,” Winning and losing should be taken as a part of the election.” He took time to explain that the existing electoral alliance among the five political parties was the need of the hour.

Former President Yadav casts ballot from Janakpur

JANAKPURDHAM: Former President Dr Ram Baran Yadav took part in voting in today’s local election.

Former President of Nepal Dr Ram Baran Yadav cast his ballot at Dhanusha.

Dr Yadav, who is the first President of the country, visited the polling centre stationed at BP Koirala Secondary School at Laxminiya Rural Municipality in Dhanusha district to cast vote in the election that commenced since 7:00 am today.

Speaker Sapkota votes in local poll

Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has voted in the local election from Sindhupalchowk. He reached the Setidevi Panchakanya Secondary School-based polling station at Kubhinde of Chautara Sangachokgadhi municipality-4 to cast his ballot.

Ex-PMs Nepal, Khanal; former Speakers Mahara, Gharti vote in local elections

CPN (Unified Socialist) Chair and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal today visited the Ramjanaki Kanya Basic School polling center (A) in Gaur municipality-1, Rautahat to take part in the voting under the local level elections.

Talking to media following the election, he urged voters to exercise their right to choose their electorates confidently.
Likewise, former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal also voted in the election from the National Basic School-based polling center at Karfok of Suryadaya municipality-9 in Ilam.

Similarly, CPN (Maoist Center) leader and former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara reached the Rolpa municipality-1-based Tara Secondary School to cast his ballot in the election. Former Speaker Onsari Gharti and Maoist leader Barshaman Pun also exercised their franchise from the Uday Secondary School in Rolpa municipality-7.

Likewise, National Assembly (NA) Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina visited the Pashupati Secondary School polling station at Modi rural municipality in Parbat to cast his ballot in the local election underway across the country since 7:00 am today.

He voted from the Pashupati Secondary School ‘B’ polling booth at Ramja of Modi-7. He arrived here two days before to take part in the voting for the local polls.
