Six held including Customs Officials in connection to gold smuggling

Kathmandu, July 23: The Revenue Investigation Department (RID) on Sunday arrested six persons including three government officials in connection to their involvement on smuggling of 100 kilograms of gold.

Information Officer of RID Nabaraj Adhikari said that the arrested ones are Customs Officer Santosh Chandra, X-ray Operator Saroj Shrestha and Customs Invigilator Kumar Dhakal.

Likewise, customs agents Sudarshan Gautam, Rukmini Subba and Yadav Parajuli were also held. So far, 16 individuals are arrested on this case.

The Department had seized the gold from Tribhuvan International Airport area that had passed undetected through the customs on Wednesday. The gold was brought from Hong Kong.
