Lalitpur: Sixteen government offices damaged by the Gorkha earthquake on April 25 and a major aftershock on May 12, 2015 have been rebuilt so far in Lalitpur district.
The District Project Implementation Unit (Building) under the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA)’s Central Project Implementation Unit (Building) was given the responsibility of reconstructing 21 of the government office buildings damaged due to the earthquake.
Project chief Chandra Kaji Gurung said reconstruction of 16 of the 21 buildings, for which approval was given to the District Project Implementation Unit (Building) for rebuilding, has been completed. The government offices which have been reconstructed include the Transport Management Office (Ekantakuna), the District Livestock Service Office (Jawalakhel), the District Forest Office (Godavari), the women detention centre of the Metropolitan Police Sector (Lagankhel), staff quarter building of the District Administration Office (Manbhawan) and the District Agricultural Development Office (Gotikhel).
Similarly, the Regional Irrigation Directorate Godavari, the Regional Livestock Directorate (Lagankhel), the Botanical Garden building (Godavari), the Revenue Administration Training Centre building (Hariharbhawan), the District Prison Office (Nakhkhu)’s office building, and the CRC and DRC buildings at the Nakhkhu Prison have also been rebuilt.
Also reconstructed are the Housing and Settlement Development, the Bungmati Infrastructure Development Project and the pre-fab building of the National Human Rights Commission at Hariharbhawan. The building towards the Civil Servants Records Office at Hariharbhawan has also been repaired, the District Project Implementation Unit (Building) stated.
