PACHTHAR: Snow has fallen in the high hilly areas of the districts. Snowfall was recorded in the hilly areas of Yangwarak and Phalelung villages of the district since Friday evening following light rain a few days ago.

Although it usually snows from mid-January, it has snowed since the second week of December this year.

The high hilly areas of Paanchthar including Timbupokhari, Pahademegu, Phaleke, Major, Chivabhanjyang, Lampokhari, Toriphule, Falot, Tinsimana and Charratel are covered with snow. The Chibabhanjyang area, the starting point of the Pushpalal (Mid-Hills) Highway, is covered with snow.

According to Santa Prasad Begha of Yangwarak-2, it had snowed in the first week of December two years ago. It started snowing after normal rains this time.

“The snowfall doesn’t last long. But this time the snow started falling soon,” he said. As a result, the temperature has plummeted.

After the snowfall, the daily life of the security personnel of the Armed Police Force deployed for border security has become difficult. In Panchthar, Border Outposts (BOP) of the Armed Police Force have been set up in Chiwabhanjyang and Lampokhari in Yangwarak village and Falot and Phalelung villages. The daily life of the security personnel has become difficult as the BOPs are covered with snow.

Snow has also fallen in the Sikkim region of India bordering the district. The district covers 45 kilometers of land bordering India.
