Kathmandu, Feb 2: Nepal faced the third consecutive defeat in Women’s T20 Tri-Series underway in the federal capital. It lost today’s match to the Netherlands by 15 runs.
In the match held at the Kirtipur-based Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground, Nepal was restricted to 125 runs in 20 overs at the loss of all wickets in its attempts to chase the 141-run target posted by the Netherlands.
For Nepal, captain Indu Barma was the top scorer with 30 runs including one six in 32 balls. Samjhana Khadka made 23 runs with four boundaries in 24 balls while Puja Mahato played with 18, Kabita Joshi 14 and Sita Ranamagar was not out with 10.
Prior to this, winning the toss, the Netherlands chose to bat first and made 140 in 20 overs at the loss of nine wickets. Captain for the Netherlands, Babette de Leede scored the highest 41 including four boundaries and one six in 38 balls.
Similarly, Heather Siegers scored 26 and Robine Rijke and Phebe Molkenboer each contributed 21 for the squad.
Towards bowling, Sita Rana Magar of Nepal took five wickets followed two from Manisha Upadhyay and one each from Kabita Joshi and Indu Barma.
The Series is being played among three nations: Nepal, the Netherlands and Thailand. Nepal lost the opening match to the Netherlands and the second match to Thailand. It is scheduled to face Thailand on February 4.#nepal #sport #rss
