Supreme Court accepts writ petition against Rabi Lamichhane



Kathmandu, May 24: A writ petition has been registered in the Supreme Court with the demand for the cancellation of the position of Member of Parliament (MP) of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane. The apex court has fixed the date of May 31 for the preliminary hearing on petition as well.

Lawyer Yubaraj Paudel has filed a writ petition demanding to revoke the position of member of the House of Representatives held by Rabi Lamichhane.

In the writ, an order has been demanded to revoke Lamichhane’s position as a member of the House of Representatives.

The writ petioner has claimed that Lamichhane has not been able to submit a proof that he has renounced his American citizenship while taking Nepali citizenship second time.

Along with Lamichhane,  Assistant Chief District Officer of Kathmandu Rabindra Prasad Acharya, District Administration Office Kathmandu, House of Representatives, has been made an opponent in the writ petition.
