Taplejung, May 1: Taplejung has generated around Rs. 54.4 million in revenue from the export of timber and herbal products in the first nine months of the current fiscal year 2025/26.
According to the Division Forest Office, a total of Rs 54.399 was collected by the end of mid-April. Most of the revenue — Rs. 53. 944 — came from timber exports, said acting Divisional Forest Officer Lalit Kumar Yadav.
Of this, Rs. 46.231 was collected as Value Added Tax deposited to the federal government, while Rs. 7.71 was collected as provincial service fees.
Revenue from herbal exports stood at Rs. 433,125 for the federal government and Rs. 21,656 as provincial service charges.
The office said 1,377,482.85 cubic feet of timber was exported during the period, including species such as Uttis, Chilaune and Malato.
Similarly, 51,590 kilograms of herbal products were exported, generating Rs. 433,125 in revenue. These included dhupi leaves, chiraito, sunpati, argeli, lokta, chutro and wild honey.
Timber is exported from private forests, while herbal products are collected from national and community forests, the office said.
