Kathmandu, Oct 4: The Tatopani border point along the Nepal-China border is currently accessible only by ropeway following the recent flooding of the Bhotekoshi River, which swept away a crucial Bailey bridge at Larcha.
This bridge was part of the Kodari Highway and connected Bhotekoshi rural municipality-2 with China, disrupting access for the border village of Liping to the federal capital.
Local authorities, including Kumar Shrestha, Chair of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2, have implemented temporary structures to aid transportation, utilizing two excavators and a tripper provided by the local government. However, Shrestha noted that the ropeway is neither a durable nor a safe transport option.
Efforts are underway to establish a makeshift bridge for vehicles, with completion expected in over two days, although high river flow poses challenges. #Tatopani #nepal #tibet #china
