KATHMANDU: The Tatopani checkpoint has been re-opened on Monday after the Chinese festival of Lhosar (new year) ended. According to the Tatopani Customs Office, the traders can now import as many goods as they want from the Tatopani checkpoint.
Chief of the Tatopani Customs Office Lal Bahadur Khatri informed that eight containers carrying goods of Nepali businessmen have been coming from the checkpoint since Monday.
“The checkpoint, which was closed on Friday, February 12, has been reopened from today. Eight containers are coming today,” said Khatri. Khatri said that the quota of containers entering Nepal has also been removed with the opening of the checkpoint.
According to Khatri, Nepali businessmen can bring in as many goods as they want through the Tatopani checkpoint.
The Rasuwagadhi checkpoint, which has been closed since February 11 due to Lhosar, has not been reopened yet. In an informal conversation, the Chinese side said that the checkpoint would be reopened from this Tuesday, but no further information was received after that, said Rasuwagadhi Customs Chief Ram Prasad Regmi.
