The death toll in Sindhupalchowk bus accident reaches 14



Melamchi, Dec 15, 2019 : The number of people killed in the Sindhupalchowk bus accident this morning has reached 14.

The bus (Ba 2 Kha   4468) fell 150 meters  from the road near  Six Kilo  along the Lamosanghhu- Jiri road section at around 7:30 am today. It was  en route to Bhaktapur from Kalinchowk of Dolakha, carrying the pilgrims for the Kalinchowk Bhagawati Temple.        

Thirteen people lost their lives on the spot and one died in course of treatment at the Sindhu Sadabahar Hospital, Khadichaur.

Among the dead, only one: Juna Tamang, 36, Dolakha Bhimeshwori municipality-4 has been identified.According to Sunkoshi rural municipality-6 Ward Chair Ram Kumar Thapa, the bus witnessed met accident, as it lost balance while swerving at Six Kilo.

Deepak Tamang, one of the injured, said the bus was not carrying passengers as per its capacity as its all seats were not packed. As he assumed, brake failure is the cause of the accident. 

Seventeen people have been injured in the accident. Of them, seriously injured were taken to Kathmandu while others are being treated at the Sindhu Sadabahar Hospital.

The reserved bus had left for Bhaktapur early in the morning from Kuri, Kalinchowk, it is said.
