Kathmandu, April 12: Three Sherpa climbers have gone missing on Mount Everest. They have not been in touch since 9:30 am on Wednesday.

The missing climbers are Chiri Sherpa, Lakpa Tendi Sherpa and Lakpa Rita Sherpa. They were heading to Camp II from Camp I carrying rope-fixing equipment, informed Nepal’s Tourism Department Director Yubraj Khatiwada. It is said that now they are being searched for by the helicopter of Simrik Air.

A team has also been dispatched by land to rescue them.

As the new expedition season is coming closer, it is expected that around 500 climbers will make an attempt to climb the world’s tallest mountain this year.
