Three killed in elephant attack in Jhapa



Birtamod, Dec 21: Three people have died after being attacked by wild elephant in Jhapa, Nepal, in the past one month.

Two of the deceased were employees and one a civilian, Division Forest Office Jhapa said. Two people from Haldibari rural municipality and one from Damak municipality were killed by wild elephants coming out of the Jalthal forest.

Earlier this morning, 58-year-old Patal Rajwanshi, an office assistant of Ward No. 2, was killed, head of the office, Meghraj Rai said. He was trampled to death by an elephant in Parokhapi of the same ward during a morning walk.

Likewise, Dhan Bahadur, the forest guard of Rankali Community Forest located in Haldibari Rural Municipality-3, was killed in an attack by elephants on December 1. Prior to this, Padmalal Tamang of Beldangi Camp located in Damak Municipality-2 died in an elephant attack on November 22.
