The government has decided to add three more positions of Additional Inspector General (AIG) in Nepal Police.
A Cabinet meeting held on Thursday took a decision to this effect, according to sources close to Ministry of Home Affairs.
DIGs Ghanshyam Aryal, Basanta Kumar Panta, Prakash Jung Karki, Dhiraj Pratap Singh, Ishwar Babu Karki, Basanta Kumar Lama, Rabindra Bahadur Dhanuk, Uttam Raj Subedi and Arun Kumari BC, among others, are vying for promotion to the post of AIG.
DIGs Panta, Karki, Singh, Dhanuk and Subedi have long been lobbying with power centers for their promotion. Panta and Karki are the batchmates of incumbent IGP Shailesh Thapa.
