
Kathmandu, Feb 17: Three Nepali pilgrims lost their lives in a road accident while returning from the Prayagraj Kumbha Mela in India.
The accident occurred on the Azamgarh-Varanasi road in Uttar Pradesh when the vehicle carrying the pilgrims collided with a road divider. The passengers were from Devdaha, Rupandehi, and had traveled to India for the Kumbha Mela.
The deceased have been identified as Ganesh Khanal (45), his wife Deepa Khanal (35), and Geeta Sharma (40), all residents of Devdaha Municipality Ward No. 9.
Additionally, five people, including the driver, were injured in the accident. The injured include Kopila Pokhrel from Devdaha Bhaluhi, her son Subham Pokhrel, Abishkar Parajuli, Yamkala Devi Magar, and the vehicle’s driver, an Indian citizen named Ritesh Dubey.
They were initially treated at a local hospital and later referred to Gorakhpur for further medical care.
Preliminary reports suggest that the accident might have been caused by the driver falling asleep at the wheel. #nepal #kumbh #prayagraj
