Trading group lifted stock market, NIFRA’s biggest trading

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose 0.58 percent or 14.57 points to 2,528.95 points on Tuesday. The banking and insurance (life) group, which dominated the stock market, declined, but the trading group index rose 9.34 percent.

The indices of hydropower and hotels and tourism group also increased by 5.84 and 4.97 percent respectively.

The trading group has seen a circuit breaker in the share price of Salt Trading Corporation. The share price of Salt Trading rose by Rs 1,050 per share to Rs 11,550. Similarly, the share price of Chandragiri Hills Ltd rose 9.98 percent to Rs 1,719 per share.

Share prices of hydropower companies also rose significantly on Tuesday. Share prices of Rasuwagadhi Hydropower, Kalika Power Company, Sanjen Hydropower Company, Upper Tamakoshi and Rarang Hydropower Company also increased by more than 9 percent.

Nepal Infrastructure Bank (NIFRA) had the biggest transaction in NEPSE on Tuesday. A total of 973,981 shares of NIFRA worth Rs 526 million and 419,522 shares of Upper Tamakoshi worth Rs 328.1 million were traded.

A total of 12,76,710 shares of 208 companies were traded at Rs 5,141,897,169 through 61,422 transactions on Tuesday.
