Kathmandu, May 12: The trailer of the new Nepali movie ‘Neerphool’, which is going to be released nationwide on Jestha 26, 2080 BS (June 9), has been released on Friday. The film, which contains the story of the Great Earthquake of 2072 BS (April 2015) and the loss of family members due to it, was stopped when the theaters were closed during the Covid-19 lockdown.
The movie starring Dayahang Rai, Buddhi Tamang, Shanti Waiba, Jigme Chyoki is directed by writer and journalist Phoolman Bal. The public trailer through YouTube today shows the struggle of a couple in search of their daughter who was rescued from Ruby Valley in Dhading and brought to Kathmandu after the earthquake.
Director Bal, who is also a screenwriter, said that he tried to connect the hearts broken by the earthquake through the film ‘Neerphool’. “After the earthquake, the physical reconstruction was done, but the reconstruction of the broken relationships is still to be done”, he said, “Neerphool is a small story of those broken relationships.” Actor Dayahang Rai said that he took time out for ‘Neerphool’ and came to Ruby Valley because of the script. “I have played a very different role in this film than in other films”, he said.
He claims that ‘Neerfool’ will fill that gap when Nepali filmmakers are accused of not having society and content in Nepali films. Actress Rekha Thapa is in a special role in the film shot in Kathmandu along with Ruby Valley of Dhading and Syafrubensi of Rasuwa. Sachin Ghimire is the associate director of the film, directed by Pramod Karki, edited by Nimesh Shrestha, music composed by Arjun Pokharel and Chandrakumar Dong.
Pushkar Gurung, Rajan Khatiwada, Saroj Aryal, Sarita Giri, Laxmi Bardeba, Manas Raj, Roshan Phuba and others are also acting in the film produced by SELO Productions in collaboration with Nepal-Myanmar Friendship Council.
