Baglung, June 15: A ‘truss bridge’ has been installed over the Daraun rivulet which flows through the edge of Arjunchaupari Rural Municipality Bazaar in Syangja.

The bridge was constructed to establish connection between Arjunchauipari 1 and 2. The Daraun rivulet divides Arjunchaupari Bazaar into two parts.

The ‘truss bridge’ has been installed after the suspension bridge that was built three decades ago in the mid part of the main bazaar was deteriorating.

There was increasing risk of accidents when the wooden materials used in the suspension bridge decaying. It had also troubled minors to reach the school.

‘Movement through the bridge was difficult due to decrepit condition of the bridge’, said Chairperson of Arjunchaupari Rural Municipality chairperson Prakash Tiwari. He further said, ‘We installed the truss bridge when it was impossible to mend the suspension bridge by pulling the wire rope due to its location in the mid part of the bazaar’.

The new bridge with 32 meters length was constructed at the total costs of Rs 5 million, including Rs 2.9 million from the federal government, Rs 2 million from the rural municipality and Rs 100,000 from locals.
