Two apprehended for detonating IED in Dang

Dang, Aug 22: Two persons have been arrested as they tried to flee after detonating an Improvised Explosive Device (Sutali Bomb) at the Ghorahi-based Mahendra Multiple Campus this morning.

Spokesperson for the District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent Ram Prasad Timilsina said that one of the two persons who came on a motorcycle threw the IED and they were arrested when they were fleeing soon after.

“The Sutali Bomb went off with a loud bang,” he said. Those arrested for the offence include Abhiyan Thapa of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City-15 and Sudan Karki, a student at the Campus. Both of the arrested have said that they set off the ‘fire-cracker’ just for fun, according to police.

DSP Timilsina said further investigation is on in this connection. Among the two who came on a motorcycle, Thapa had hurled the IED on the road in front of the Campus, Timilsina said. #ied

Nepali Army defuses suspicious article

Meanwhile, Nepali Army has safely disabled a suspicious article found this morning near the Ward Office at Balambu, Chandragiri Municipality-12 in Kathmandu.

The Army’s bomb disposal squad deactivated the suspicious article in a safe manner.

The squad was mobilized immediately on getting information that a suspicious object was found abandoned in the house of a local resident, the Nepali Army, Public Relations and Information Directorate stated. #nepalarmy
