Two business firms penalized for violating consumer protection law



Kathmandu, Jan 14: The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has imposed cash fines on two business firms for violating market regulations.

According to the Department, BS Dhawalagiri Traders was fined Rs 10,000, while Sindhu Materials Pvt. Ltd. was fined Rs 15,000 after they were found flouting provisions of the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 BS, during a recent market monitoring and inspection drive.

Out of 14 firms inspected during the monitoring exercise, two were penalized, while corrective instructions were issued to the remaining 12 firms.

The Department stated that it has been intensifying monitoring of firms involved in the sale of construction materials in recent days. Such inspections are being conducted regularly with the participation of local administration, consumer rights activists, and other concerned stakeholders.

The Department further warned that any firm found operating in violation of existing laws and regulations will be penalized in accordance with the law. #nepal #business
