BIRTAMOD: Two children who went swimming in the Kankai Canal in Shivasatakshi Municipality-9 of Jhapa drowned on Thursday.
Eleven year old Anjila Sundas and 12-year-old Sikum Rai of the same place died of drowning, said Basant Pathak, spokesperson of District Police Office, Jhapa.
The family started a search after they did not return home on Thursday evening. Locals found their clothes and sandals in the Kankai irrigation canal at Shivasatakshi-9.
Spokesperson Thapa informed that the search team found them at Shivasatakshi-7 Satakshi river last night.
