Damak, Jhapa : Two children drowned in a pond created by an excavator during the construction of a bridge over local Ratuwariver at Damak-1, Jhapa, on Saturday.
The deceased identified as AayushPurkuti, 9, of Damak-1 and NishchalChemjong, 12, of Phalgunanda rural municipality-5 in Panchthar district were swimming in the pond when the incident occurred, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Bijaya Kumar Pandit.
They died on the spot. Bodies of the deceased were handed to their families and investigations started, said Pandit.
