Kathmandu, June 6: United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has invited Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to participate in the ‘Summit of the Future’ conference to be held next September at UN Headquarter, New York.
Hana Singer, the resident representative of the United Nations in Nepal, met Prime Minister Prachanda today and handed over the invitation letter.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Prachanda expressed his gratitude to the Secretary-General of the United Nations for visiting Nepal and internationalizing its concerns and interests. He also said that he is positive to participate in the conference organized by the United Nations.
Resident Representative Singer, mentioning that Nepal is providing important support to the United Nations World Peace Mission, said that Nepal should also participate in the summit for the role played by Nepal in the recent climate change.
The ‘Summit of the Future’ is going to be held in New York on September 22 and 23 under the auspices of the United Nations to discuss contemporary challenges including climate change and achieving sustainable development goals.
