KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Valley administration has allowed schools to resume physical classes, but with strict adherence to health and safety protocol and in coordination with the COVID-19 Crisis Management Committee (CCMC).

The meeting of the district administration offices at Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts on Wednesday however decided that the schools could resume the physical class only in a condition of ‘smart lockdown.’

For this to happen, the local levels must coordinate with the district level CCMC.

Issuing the prohibitory to be effective from September 2 to September 16, the administration offices urged everyone to strictly follow the health protocol while observing the festival that falls in prohibitory period.

There must not be gathering, crowds, rallies, feasts and festivals but symbolic celebration.

Similarly, the local transportation is prohibited from 9:00am to 11:00am and from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.

The economic, social and commercial activities to be carried out by the people or group and institutions should abide by the health protocol.

The transportation of construction materials for private and public purpose is however allowed from 9:00 pm to 5:00 am.

The district administration offices in the Kathmandu Valley issued the prohibitory order in line with government’s decision upon recommendation of CCMC, COVID-19 Crisis Management Ordinance, 2078, and the Local and Administrative Act, 2028.
