Vehicles worth Rs 8.70 billion imported through Birgunj custom



Birgunj, Nov 3: Vehicles worth Rs 8.70 billion were imported through the Birgunj customs checkpoint in the first three months of the current fiscal year 2025/26. According to the Birgunj Customs Office, revenue worth Rs 7.77 billion was collected from vehicle imports during the same period.

Chief Customs Officer Bishnu Gyawali said that both the import volume and revenue collection from vehicles have increased in the first three months compared to the same period last year.

In the first three months of the previous fiscal year, vehicles worth Rs 6.19 billion had been imported, generating Rs 5.95 billion in revenue.

Likewise, 330 jeeps, cars, and vans worth Rs 620.4 million were imported in the first three months of the current fiscal year, from which Rs 1.75 billion in revenue was collected. In contrast, 432 jeeps, cars, and vans worth Rs 765.8 million were imported in the same period last fiscal year, generating Rs 1.96 billion in revenue.

Similarly, 229 electric jeeps, cars, and vans worth Rs 680.5 million entered Nepal through the Birgunj checkpoint in the first three months of the current fiscal year. The customs office collected Rs 457.2 million in revenue from these imports.

During the same period this fiscal year, 24,939 unassembled motorcycles worth Rs 3.41 billion were imported, contributing Rs 3.28 billion in revenue. In the corresponding period last fiscal year, 19,489 unassembled motorcycles worth Rs 2.49 billion were imported.

In comparison, during the same period last fiscal year, 97 electric jeeps, cars, and vans worth Rs 144.9 million were imported, generating only Rs 91.1 million in revenue. #nepal #auto #import #custom #vehicle
