Ward chair’s vehicle torched in Khotang

Khotang : A parked government vehicle belonging to ward chair Lilanath Niraula was set on fire at Rawabensi rural municipality in the district on Sunday night.

An unidentified group of persons are suspected to have torched the vehicle (Ba 2 Jha 3524) parked inside the house of Niraula, ward chair of the rural municipality-5, said the police.

The vehicle was destroyed completely in the fire.

“I was sleeping when a bang like a bomb explosion was heard. I saw the vehicle burning when I saw around to find what was wrong,” said Niraula.

A team from a police beat, Harmatar doused the fire around two hours later.

A police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Bamdev Gautam was deployed to look after the matter, and investigations were on, said Chief District Officer Bishnu Hari Upadhyay.
