Chitwan, Dec 10: Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda,” has warned that if the government fails to correct its wrong activities, a robust protest will be launched both in parliament and on the streets. He made this statement while addressing a public awareness assembly held in Bharatpur, Chitwan today.
Accusing the government of advancing against good governance, social justice, and prosperity, Prachanda stated that if such actions are not halted, a special session of parliament will be convened, and millions of people will be mobilized for protests in both the legislature and the streets.
Prachanda also accused leaders from Nepali Congress and CPN UML of being involved in misappropriating funds from cooperatives across the country. He criticized the government for allegedly shielding such individuals while targeting others, like Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane, with retaliatory actions.
He stated, “It is widely known that the leaders of the ruling party are deeply involved in cooperative scandals. Yet, the government is focused on protecting them, while portraying Rabi Lamichhane as if he alone misappropriated funds.”
He further claimed that the government is targeting Rabi Lamichhane and the Rastriya Swatantra Party because they did not comply with Congress and UML’s directives.
He criticized the government for undermining institutions such as the Nepal Electricity Authority and Tribhuvan University, which he claimed were improving under meritocratic reforms. He alleged that the government’s actions are leading the country toward chaos, which he declared unacceptable.
Recalling his tenure as prime minister, Prachanda mentioned efforts to revive struggling industries, contrasting it with the current government’s alleged intention to privatize public enterprises, which he deemed unacceptable to the public.
Prachanda emphasized that during his leadership, steps were taken against corruption and toward good governance, social justice, and economic prosperity. He said his government operated without favoritism, cracking down on corrupt individuals regardless of their political affiliations, including those within his own party.
He highlighted significant initiatives during his terms, such as the construction of the Mid-Hill Highway, debt relief for poor farmers, resolving border disputes with India, facilitating trade agreements on electricity, ensuring fertilizer supply, and reaching agreements with China to reopen border points.
Prachanda urged vigilance against global tensions and stressed the need for Nepal to maintain its national independence and sovereignty by fostering national unity. #Prachanda #nepal #Rabi #corruption
