WHO ready to cooperate with Nepal



Kathmandu, May 22:  Mrs Nisha Mehta, Minister of Health and Food Safety, held a meeting with WHO’s Director General, Mr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, in Geneva during the 79th World Health Assembly organized by the World Health Organization.

According to the Ministry’s Assistant Spokesperson Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari, discussions focused on cooperation between Nepal and the WHO in the health sector. During the meeting, WHO Director-General Dr Tedros reiterated the organization’s readiness to continue supporting and cooperating with Nepal.

Following the meeting, Minister Mehta described the discussions as highly productive.

Prior to the meeting with the WHO chief, Minister Mehta also held separate bilateral meetings with Lei Haichao and JP Nadda in Geneva.

Minister Mehta is leading a three-member Nepali delegation participating in the 79th World Health Assembly, which is being held in Geneva from May 18 to 23, 2026. #Nepal
