Kathmandu, April 18: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Nawal Kishor Sah Sudi has said women are still deprived of fully exercising the rights guaranteed to them by the Constitution.

Women who consist of 51 percent of the total population have been prevented from enjoying their rights ensured by the Constitution,” he said, while addressing the 34th anniversary celebrations of the Women Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC) here on Friday.

He also urged the women community to be active for enabling an atmosphere so that they could fully exercise their constitutional rights.WOREC Founding Chair Renu Adhikari said the WOREC has, since its establishment, continued its efforts to dismantle gender-based discriminations entrenched in the society.

It works for various aspects in the society and civil societies are never the competitors of the State, but are partners for positive changes in the society, according to her.

National Dalit Commission Chair, Devraj Bishwokarma, applauded the roles of WOREC in amplifying the voices of those who have been pushed to exclusion for centuries. As he said, the Commission is always ready to cooperate with the WOREC for the causes of excluded communities.#nepal #Women #rss
