KATHMANDU: Nepal has defeated Qatar by 79 runs in the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup Asia qualifiers.
Following the 118-run target set by Nepal today at the UKM Oval in Malaysia, Qatar lost all their wickets in 15.4 overs and were reduced to 38 runs. For Qatar, captain Sachi Dhadwal and Shrutiben Kamaleshbhai Rana added 14 runs each.
Nepal’s Srishti Jaishi took three wickets in the process of taking Qatar on a cheap. Similarly, Anu Kadayat, Kritika Marasini and Sneha Mahara took two wickets each.
Earlier, batting first, Nepal lost three wickets in 20 overs and scored 117 runs. Ashma Pulami Magar scored not out 32 runs for Nepal. Similarly, Srishti Jaishi added 23 runs, Sanu Rajbanshi added 21 runs and Anjali Bishwakarma added 11 runs. Kiran Kumari Kunwar scored only one run.
Qatar’s Sachi Dhadwal and Alina Khan took 1/1 wickets each. Apart from Nepal, the group comprises with Malaysia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Thailand, Bhutan and Qatar. Now Nepal will play the second game against UAE on Saturday.
