Chitwan, March 9: An adult male rhinoceros was found dead in Nawalpur area of Chitwan National Park. About 20-year-old male rhinoceros was found dead near Sehri post under Amaltari area of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta East) of the park, the park said.
Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, assistant conservation officer and information officer of the park, informed that the patrol team found a dead rhinoceros in the area of the park on Wednesday morning. The preliminary investigation revealed that the rhinoceros may have died due to fight with other rhinoceros. Tiwari says that the horn and hoof of the dead male rhinoceros are safe.
Along with the dead rhino in Chitwan National Park on Wednesday, 13 rhinos have died in the current fiscal year 2022/23. According to the park, two of the dead rhinos died due to poaching. According to rhino count 2077 BS, there are 694 rhinos in Chitwan National Park.
