Kathmandu, March 29: Police have arrested a gang including nine Chinese nationals involved in online fraud. The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police arrested the gang and made it public at a press conference on Wednesday.
The fraudsters ran a channel named, ‘operation teachers’ by getting acquitted with people via WhatsApp, lured them of huge income with trade and finally deceived the people.
The gang was arrested after a complaint was filed over it, according to Superintendent of Police, Somendra Singh Rathaur. Various digital devices were also confiscated from them.
Those arrested are Buddhi Raj Shrestha originally from Dolakha and now from Kathmandu, IndraTamang and Raj Kumar Lama from Nuwakot, Prayash Bhandari from Kathmandu, Arjun Shrestha from Dolakha, Anita Magar from Udayapur, SunitaGurung from Lamjung, RabinaSunuwar from Ramechhap, AnuGurung from Gorkha. Nine Chinese nationals were also arrested from the Kathmandu Valley.
The police confiscated 12 laptops, 74 SIM cards, 77 mobile sets, and 400 thousand rupees in cash.
