40,000 cannabis plants destroyed in Mahottari

Jaleshwor, Dec 29: The Nepal Police personnel have destroyed as high as 40,000 cannabis plants cultivated illegally at Baheda village of Yekdara Rural Municipality-5 in Mahottari district.

A team of police deployed on Thursday from the district police office destroyed the cannabis plants farmed at the area of almost four bigha of land, according to Superintendent of Police (SP) Prakash Malla.

A team of 25 police personnel uprooted the cannabis plants acting on a tip-off, he said.

Meanwhile, the police have intensified the search and destroy of cannabis campaign across the country. According to laws of Nepal, it is prohibited to plant, distribute, sale or purhase.
