Sankhuwasabha, June 23: A newly constructed 50-bed district hospital in Sankhuwasabha has been completed and officially handed over. The project was handed over today to the district hospital by the Urban Development and Building Construction Project Office, Dhankuta.

The contract for constructing the hospital was signed with Swaminarayan Aashirwad JV Sunsari on July 6, 2018. With the completion of the state-of-the-art facility, healthcare services are expected to become more efficient. Speaking at the handover ceremony, Chief of the District Coordination Committee and Chair of the Hospital Development Committee, Suman Shakya, informed that preparations have begun to operate services from the new building.

Following the handover, three well-equipped blocks of Sankhuwasabha District Hospital have come into operation, Mishra added. The hospital currently provides orthopedic services, pediatrics, general surgery, physiotherapy, maternity, and other services.

After moving from the old building to the new one, all types of services will be available at the district hospital, according to Chief Shakya. The hospital was completed at a total cost of approximately Rs 272.78 million, according to Project Chief Suman Kumar Mishra.

Patients not only from all 10 local levels of Sankhuwasabha but also from more than half of neighboring Bhojpur district seek treatment at the hospital.

Previously, due to delays in the completion of the new building, patients were treated in the corridors and ground floor of the old hospital building, which was constructed in 1976. The project deadline had been extended before the building was handed over. The hospital now serves over 300 patients daily. #nepal #hospital
