54 street children rescued



Kathmandu, Oct 1 : The National Child Welfare Board has rescued 54 street children.

These children including 28 from Thamel, Ratna Park and New Bus Park were rescued on Monday night.

A joint team of the Board and Children at Risk Coordination Centre rescued the children as per the government’s campaign of making Kathmandu Valley street children free city. Arrangement of short-term protection has been made to all the rescued children.

Administrative Chief of the Board, Krishna Prasad Bhusal, said that the rescued children would be handed over to the parents after counseling.

The Board has rescued 200 street children so far from the beginning of the current fiscal year.

The rescued children are from the age between 3-18 years.
