Kathmandu, Feb 19: Various employees, journalists and subscribers of the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) were honoured during a special ceremony held to mark its 65th anniversary in the federal capital on Thursday.
On the occasion, RSS presented Excellence Awards to 11 individuals, including its employees, journalists and stringers. The awards were handed over by Vice President Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav, who attended the event as chief guest, and RSS Executive Chairman Dharmendra Jha.
Among the awardees were Yuddha Kumari Khadka (Indira), Chief of the RSS Photo Section, and Geeta Parajuli, Senior Editing Assistant at the Nepali News Desk. They each received Rs 10,000 and letters of appreciation for their contribution to editing services.
In the news reporting category, Ram Bahadur Thapa, correspondent at the RSS Gandaki Province Office and Sushil Darnal of the RSS Central Office were each awarded Rs 10,000 along with letters of appreciation.
Under the Excellence Award for RSS stringers, three journalists—including one woman—were honoured: Krishnaram Pariyar (Hetauda), Bijay Rawat (Jumla) and Ranjita Adhikari (Dang). Each received Rs 20,000 and letters of appreciation.
Himal Lamsal, Chief of the RSS Birgunj Office, received the ‘RSS Best Feature Award,’ which carries a cash prize of Rs 20,000. Similarly, the ‘Best Photo Award,’ also carrying Rs 20,000 was presented to Sushil Babu Thakali (Mustang).
The ‘Excellent Employee Award,’ which includes Rs 10,000 and a letter of appreciation, was presented to RSS Account Section Chief Rudramani Adhikari and driver Yadav Prasad Gotame.
RSS also conferred the ‘Excellent Subscriber Honour’ for the year 2082 BS on three media houses: Bahrakhari Media Pvt Ltd, Mechikali Dainik and Impression Publication Pvt Ltd (Himalaya Times daily).
RSS Journalism Award to Guragain, Shakya
On the same occasion, the ‘RSS Journalism Award’, instituted by the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) RSS Chapter, was presented to Senior Editor at RSS English Desk, Pabitra Guragain, and Senior Editing Assistant at RSS Nepali News, Reshma Shakya. The annual award carries Rs 10,000 and a letter of appreciation to each.
The FNJ also presented this year’s ‘Umakanta Geetadevi Chandrakanta Rajaure Memorial Award,’ carrying Rs 5,000, to RSS stringer for Nawalpur, Tekraj Pokhrel.
Former RSS General Manager Shreeram Singh Basnet received the ‘RSS Former Employee Honour’ for the year 2082 BS, as decided by the FNJ RSS Chapter.
Likewise, this year’s ‘Basu Rimal Yatri Memorial Award,’ instituted by the RSS Employees’ Association in memory of former RSS Chief Administrator Basu Rimal Yatri, was presented to Siddha Raj Bhatta, Chief of the RSS Dhangadhi Province Office, and Gauri Karanjit, Office Assistant at the RSS Koshi Province Office, Biratnagar. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 7,777 each.
Similarly, the RSS Employees Union honoured administration employee Muna Bhandari and driver Kumar Dangal with Rs 5,000 each.
The ‘Adhityadhowj Joshi Memorial Award,’ established by the Nepal National Employees Organisation, RSS Chapter, was conferred on RSS International Desk Sub-Editor Dilip Prasad Sharma and RSS photojournalist Pradip Raj Onta. The award carries a purse of Rs 7,500 each. #nepal #rss
