Cabinet decides to implement the report on cooperatives scandal

Kathmandu, Sept 18: The government has approved a high profile report prepared by the Parliamentary Special Inquiry Committee on Cooperatives.

During the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Wednesday evening, it was decided to implement the report submitted by the committee and approved it. Government spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung informed that the report will be sent to concerned ministries for implementation.

He mentioned that the Speaker of the House had sent the investigation report on the misappropriation of cooperative society savings funds, which was presented in Parliament, to the Council of Ministers for implementation. In today’s meeting, the Council of Ministers decided to send the Special Investigation Report, 2081, regarding the misappropriation of cooperative society savings funds to the relevant ministry for implementation.

He added that the government will carry out the recommendations and actions outlined in the committee’s report, as presented to Parliament by the committee coordinator.

The report particularly addresses the misappropriation of funds in Gorkha Media. The Gorkha Media took millions of rupees from different cooperatives and misused it. The committee has recommended the name of Mr Rabi Lamichhane and others for the legal actions.
