Lalitpur, Feb 3: Member of Parliament (MP) Uday Shamsher Rana has emphasized that tourism in Lalitpur should not be confined to Patan alone, highlighting the potential of southern Lalitpur as an attractive tourist destination.
Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the Chapeli Majhkhanda Cable Car, initiated under the Majhkhanda Tourism Project by Destination Majhkhanda Pvt. Ltd., lawmaker Rana advised careful planning for the project. He suggested that local livelihoods, lifestyle, agriculture, and livestock farming could be key attractions for tourism in the region.
“Lalitpur has great tourism potential, and all political parties, public representatives, and stakeholders should work together to promote it commercially,” he said. He also stated that the Kanti Lokpath road will be fully operational next year, and that surveys are being conducted to mitigate the risks of seven landslide-prone areas with the help of JICA and other agencies.
Bagmati Province Assembly Member Madhusudan Paudel extended his best wishes for the success of the project, while Hari Dahal, a central member of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and Lalitpur in-charge, acknowledged the challenges in implementing large projects but expressed confidence that this initiative would transform the scenic beauty of Lalitpur.
According to Destination Majhkhanda Pvt. Ltd. Chairman Gopal Sanjel, the company will collaborate with the rural municipality for the development and expansion of the tourism sector.
The cable car will span 2.8 kilometers, connecting Ward No. 3 and Ward No. 5 of Bagmati Rural Municipality. With an investment of some Rs 1.2 billion, the project will also include a hotel, amusement park, and other tourism facilities. The company aims to complete construction within one year and six months. #nepal #cablecar #lalitpur
