Construction of Pathibhara Devi Mukumlung Darshan Cable Car begins

Taplejung, Jan 21: The construction of the much-anticipated Pathibhara Devi Mukumlung Darshan Cable Car project officially commenced today. Indra Kedem, the head of Himalaya Construction, announced that work on the bottom station has started, marking a significant step forward in the project.

The initiative, supported by local political parties, representatives, residents, government bodies, and security agencies, is expected to progress swiftly, according to Kedem.

Rudra Poudel, one of the project directors, emphasized that the cable car would play a transformative role in Taplejung’s economic, social, and cultural development and serve as a milestone for the prosperity of the Koshi Province.

Poudel assured that the cable car would be operational within 15 months, enabling visitors, including elderly and differently-abled individuals, to access the revered Pathibhara Devi Temple with ease.

He highlighted the project’s potential to promote tourism, create employment, maintain environmental balance, and drive economic and social development, making it a unique example in Nepal’s tourism sector.

The company anticipates that upon completion, the number of visitors to Pathibhara Devi Temple could rise to 1 million annually. The ease of access provided by the cable car is expected to significantly boost the number of pilgrims and tourists. Furthermore, the project aims to establish Taplejung as a safe, sustainable, and world-class tourist destination.

The Pathibhara Devi Mukumlung Darshan Cable Car is being managed by IME Group, a company with over 15 years of experience in cable car construction and operation.

IME Group previously built the Chandragiri Cable Car, a landmark tourist attraction in Kathmandu, and has successfully completed the Maulakali and Lumbini cable car projects in Nawalpur and Butwal, respectively—both ahead of schedule. The construction of the Jalpa Devi Cable Car in Karnali is also progressing rapidly.

IME Group has called on all stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring the timely completion of the Pathibhara Cable Car project and advancing game-changing initiatives to further enhance Nepal’s tourism landscape.
