Controversial Lal Commission Report on Electricity Revenue Dispute published

Kathmandu, Nov 11: The report of the Lal Commission, which was formed to resolve the dispute regarding the electricity tariffs for dedicated and trunk lines of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), has been made public. The report was released on Monday after being submitted to the government a long time ago.

Based on the same report, the Council of Ministers, in its meeting on Sunday, decided that the outstanding electricity tariffs for ‘dedicated’ and ‘trunk line’ connections, which have been under dispute for a long time, will be collected based on the Time of Day (TOD) meter.

The government has set a 15-day deadline to collect the outstanding electricity tariffs, and it has also been decided that any industries with unpaid dues will have their electricity connections restored within 24 hours of settling the dues.
