Country witnesses more cases of coronavirus



Kathmandu: The number of active cases of coronavirus infection has increased in the country in compared to the previous days. On Monday, the country witnessed 304 more active cases of the virus than Sunday.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 899 new cases were added to the coronavirus infected tally on Monday including 298 in the Kathmandu valley.

With this, the total number of caseload reached 39,460 in the country. The MoHP Spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam shared that Kathmandu district recorded 190 new cases, 67 in Laliptur and 41 in Bhaktapur.

A total of 693,472 PCR tests were carried out so far including 11,129 in the past 24 hours, Dr Gautam added.

He added that 588 people got discharged across the country in the past 24 hours, making the total number of discharged people 21,410. There are 10,701 people are in the institutional isolation facilities while 7,121 individuals are in home isolation.

Furthermore, Gautam shared that 132 people are receiving treatment in ICU across the country including four in State No. 1, 38 in State No. 2, 70 in Bagmati State, three in Gandaki State and 17 in State No. 5 while 16 persons are in ventilators including 13 in Bagmati, one in State No. 1 and two others in State No. 5.

Till date, 12 districts have more than 500 infected ones. The districts with 500 plus cases are Morang, Sunsari, Parsa, Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Mahottari, Dhanusha, Chitwan, Lalitpur, Kathmandu and Rupandehi.

However, Mustang and Humla have zero case. Seven more people including four men lost their lives from coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours. With this, the death toll from the virus reached 228 in Nepal.

A four-year-old girl of Mahottari, 62-year-old woman of Gorkha and 66-year-old woman of Rupandehi succumbed to the virus.

Similarly, 86-year-old man of Jhapa, 40-year-old man of Rautahat, 78-year-old man of Chitwan and 77-year-old man of Bhaktapur also died from coronavirus infection lately.
