Mahottari: The border transits with neighbouring India in Mahottari have been closed considering the risk of COVID-19. All the transits except Bhittamod have been closed, said Chief District Officer Surya Bahadur Khatri.
The Saturday meeting of the District Security Committee decided to close down all the border transit points including the points nearby the human settlements. The district shares around 38 kilometers of border with India.
As a result, the Khairwani, Samsi, Gaudhabhetpur, Pokharabhinda, Itaharwakatti, Kataiya, Bathanaha, Madhawa, Nainhi, Parsapataili and Matihani check points have been closed from today. Also shut down are Raghunathpur, Sangrapur, Katti, Shishawakataiya, Musarpatti, Maliwara and Sakari points.
A joint patrol of Armed Police, Nepali Police and Nepali Army will monitor the closed transit points round-the-clock. Regular message are also being disseminated in coordination with the local level governments urging people to stop movement across the border, said CDO Khatri.
This was needed in order to minimize the risk to Coronavirus, said Mayor of Matihani Hari Prasad Mandal.
Quarantine in Manipal teaching hospital
Janakpurdham: A quarantine centre is to be established in the Manipal teaching hospital premises. The quarantine is being established in order to help minimize the risk of COVID-19 infection.
A team led by Mayor of Janakpurdham observed the complex on Saturday. The team included representatives the security agencies as well as health experts.
According the Janakpurdham sub-metropolis will set up the quarantine to host up to 150 people. The area was deemed fit for a quarantine centre as it is away from human settlement. Any person suspected of carrying the Coronavirus will be put in isolation in the quarantine, said Deputy Director of the Health Directorate of State no. 2 Dr Bijaya Kumar Jha.

Bhimad set up emergency fund
Damauli: The Bhimad municipality has set up an emergency fund to minimize the risk of COVID-19. The municipality has allocated Rs. 300,000 for carrying out public awareness about the deadly virus.
The fund will be used to carry out public sensitization programme at all the wards of the municipality, Mayor Mekha Bahadur Thapa said. Committees have been set up at all levels in order to work for it.
Any people suspected of carrying the virus will be rushed to the nearby health institution. An isolation centre has been established with support from the municipality at the GP Koirala respiratory disease treatment centre. The centre has 12 isolation beds.
Three health workers of the centre have been trained on collecting samples from suspected patients. Arrangement has also been made to send the samples to Kathmandu for testing.
Free treatment with ambulance service
Parbat: The Jaljala rural municipality is to provide free treatment along with ambulance service to those suspected of carrying the COVID-19 virus. The meeting of the executive on Saturday took a decision to this end, according to chairperson Yam Bahadur Malla.
Anyone suspected to be carrying the virus will be transported via an ambulance and receive free treatment covered by the rural municipality, Malla said.
Meanwhile, the rural municipality has urged all not to leave their homes except for essential work. The locals have also been urged to remain alert of their health condition, observe personal hygiene, avoid crowd and gathering, and adopt preventive measures, while go to the nearest health centre or contact the rural municipality of any symptoms of the virus infection is seen.
Likewise, the executive meeting on Saturday decided to suspend the Birat Gyan Mahayagya scheduled to be held from coming April 13.

Temporary hospitals in four locations
Rajbiraj: Preparations are being made to run ‘Corona management temporary hospitals’ in four different locations of Saptari, considering the increasing risk of Coronavirus infection.
A high-level meeting chaired by Chief District Officer Sunil Khanal on Saturday decided to set up temporary hospitals in Gajendra Narayan Singh hospital, Chinnamasta Medical College hospital, Sai Krishna Teaching Hospital and Unique hospital premises. Isolation rooms will be established along with necessary equipment, Mayor of Rajbiraj Shambhu Prasad Yadav said.
Meanwhile, the Nepal-India transit point under Bode Basain municipality has been closed from Saturday in wake of the risk of infection of Coronavirus. —
