KATHMANDU: CPN (Majority) coordinator Dharmendra Bastola has been released from police custody. Bastola was arrested by police on Wednesday. He was on his way to Nepalgunj after a program in Pokhara on Wednesday when police arrested him from Bhaluwang in Dang district.
During the police interrogation, Bastola had informed that his party would not take any action to disrupt the local elections. Bastola also had telephone conversations with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand.
He was arrested from Bhaluwang while he was going to visit his wife in Nepalgunj as Bastola’s wife was ill. The Communist Party of Nepal, led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplava’, had recently split and Bastola had formed a CPN (Majority) under his convenorship.
