Kathmandu: Oman defeated USA by 6 wickets in the match held at the TU cricket ground today under the ICC world cup league two cricket series.
Put into bat first, the USA posted a total of 213 runs at the loss of all wickets in 50 overs. In reply, Oman surpassed the total with three balls to spare and at the loss of four wickets.
Mohammad Nadeem scored 55 runs (not out) while Suraj Kumar contributed 33 runs to win the second straight match for Oman. Nadeem also won the man-of-the-match award for also taking three wickets. The top scorer for Oman was all rounder Akib Lyas, who scored 72 runs.
The ICC world cup cricket league two series is the gateway to the 2023 Cricket World Cup. The league comprises Nepal, US, Oman, Scotland, Namibia, the UAE and Papua New Guinea. The league began on August 2019.
The top three teams of the league will book a place in the 2023 world cup qualifiers.This is the second win for Oman. It defeated hosts Nepal by 18 runs on Wednesday. Nepal will now play USA on Saturday.
