Surkhet, Aug 20: Dho Tarap, the world’s highest altitude human settlement in Dolpa district is hosting a festival.
The festival named ‘Dolpo Festival’ has been scheduled on coming September 10-14 on the ground of local Crystal Mountain School at Dho Tarap of Dolpo Buddha rural municipality.
The settlement lies at an altitude of 4,080 meters.
The school is also celebrating its silver jubilee around the same time.
Festival main organising committee coordinator Gyalpo Thapa shared information about this at a press meet here Monday.
The festival will be taking place with the theme of “the philosophy of Dolpo, the achievement of peace’.
As he said, the major objective of the festival is to draw the government’s attention to issues facing the Dolpa folks in terms of development and promote local tourism, supporting the Nepal Visit Year-2020 announced by the central government.
The festival will feature religious, cultural and social life of Dolpa, district in the Karnali State.
On the occasion, Karnali state minister for economic affairs and planning Prakash Jwala said he was hopeful that the festival would help promote the tourism of entire state.
“Dolpa is rich in all sorts of tourism,” he said, adding that its development was priority of the State government.
Nepali Congress, State Assembly parliamentary party leader Jeevan Bahadur Shahi said tourism was one of the major basis for strengthening economy.
During the event, Arrangements will be made for visitors to trek to local religious, natural, archeological, cultural and touristic sites as well.
