Election Commission

Kathmandu, Dec 15: The Election Commission of Nepal (ECN) has authorised 31 organisations to observe the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) elections scheduled for March 5, 2026.

Of the approved organisations, 27 are national and four are international. The ECN, a constitutional body responsible for conducting and supervising elections, had earlier invited applications from organisations interested in observing the parliamentary polls.

According to Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, Joint Secretary and Spokesperson of the Commission, a total of 44 applications were received from national organisations and five from international organisations.

Bhattarai stated that permission was granted to organisations that met the eligibility criteria and completed all required procedures in accordance with the Election Observation Guidelines–2079 BS. Organisations that failed to submit the necessary documents or comply fully with the stipulated procedures have been instructed to rectify the deficiencies within five days.

“The Commission will review the remaining applications after the required documents are submitted and take a decision accordingly,” Bhattarai added.

It may be noted that the interim government formed following the Gen-Z movement on September 8 and 9 this year, led by Prime Minister Sushila Karki, is mandated to conduct the parliamentary elections on March 5 next year. #election #nepal
