Exports up nearly by double through Birgunj customs



Birgunj, Feb 27: Goods worth Rs 40 billion 345 million and 979 thousand have been exported through Birgunj customs point in the last seven months of the current fiscal year, 2024/25.

The export through the border point has more than doubled in the same period of the current fiscal year as compared to the seven months of the last fiscal year.

Goods and merchandise worth Rs 17 billion 79 million and 560 thousand were exported to foreign countries through this border point in the seven months of the last fiscal year.

Of the 28 small and big customs points in the country, Birgunj customs point accounts for 31.72 per cent of the total exports.

Information Officer at Birgunj Customs Office, Amit Tiwari, said that the overall export of refined sunflower and soybean oil has increased in the current fiscal year. “Exports have been increasing in an encouraging manner in the current fiscal year as compared to the previous fiscal year,” he said.

Refined soybean oil worth Rs 19.36 billion was exported via Birgunj check point in the seventh months of the current fiscal year. Similarly, refine sunflower oil worth Rs 4.63 billion, fruit juice worth Rs 3.96 billion were exported to foreign countries during the period.

According to Birgunj Customs Office, iron and iron products worth Rs 3.1 billion, synthetic yarn worth Rs 1.60 billion and different types of clothes worth Rs 1.47 billion were exported via the check point.

Likewise, raw materials for cattle feed worth Rs 1.22 billion was also exported during the period.
