Festivals consolidate national unity: President Bhandari

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari expressed her hope that various religious and cultural festivals in the country have contributed to strengthening the national unity by consolidating feelings of mutual harmony, tolerance and unity among all Nepalis.

Country’s diversity in culture and geography are not weakness, but a power, which, she said, are country’s original national identity, said the President while addressing an event organised here on Saturday by the Federation of National Christians Nepal on the occasion of Christmas Day.

She also thanked the community for its contribution to the development of the country through education, health and social service.

She stressed the need for pursuing the country’s goal of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’ alongside social justice to raise status of common people.

On the occasion, Minister for Youth and Sports Maheshwor Jung Gahatraj underscored the works for building prosperous country by maintaining social and religious harmony in the country.
