Government committed to modernizing education and healthcare: PM Oli

Pokhara, Jan 16: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that the government is committed to making education and healthcare more modern and advanced.

Addressing the first convocation ceremony of the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences (PoAHS), Chancellor Oli highlighted the ongoing progress and transformations in various sectors of the country.

He emphasized that the government’s efforts are aligned with the vision of a “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali,” which resonates with the ancient philosophy of “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah” (May all beings be happy).

The Prime Minister pointed out that the establishment of the academy and its ability to produce skilled human resources locally is a testament to progress, countering the belief that systemic changes have not resulted in significant advancements.

He also praised the achievement of 14 successful kidney transplants conducted in Pokhara as a significant milestone.

Recalling Nepal’s proud history as a land of knowledge and discovery, Prime Minister Oli noted that modern medical practices were preceded by the Vedas and ancient medical sciences in this region.

“There is no reason why we cannot rise. By leveraging information technology and artificial intelligence, we will move forward in development,” he stated.

“China has lifted a vast population out of poverty in a short time. Similarly, we must take charge of our country’s development. If we work together, Nepal will transform.”

The Prime Minister encouraged graduating students to be exemplary, honest, idealistic, and useful to society.

He expressed his best wishes, acknowledging the fruitful outcomes of the investments made by students, parents, and guardians in terms of time, effort, and resources.

During the ceremony, Chancellor Oli conferred degrees upon 38 students who graduated with MD and MS degrees in 2080 and 2081 BS.

Outstanding students Arvind Kumar Shah (Orthopedics) and Ashish Sapkota (General Surgery) were awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s medals by Prime Minister Oli.

Additionally, the Prime Minister inaugurated the academy’s emergency and academic building.

The convocation also featured remarks by Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel.
