KATHMANDU, Dec 15: The government has decided to arrest the sugar mill owner who did not pay the farmers for buying sugarcane.
A meeting of the three ministers chaired by Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ on Tuesday decided to arrest the mill owners who did not pay the sugarcane for farmers, sources said.
Home Ministry spokesperson Chakra Bahadur Budha informed that discussions were held to solve the problem of sugarcane farmers.
Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Lekhraj Bhatta, Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Hridayesh Tripathi and Minister for Agriculture Ghanashyam Bhusal were present at the meeting.
Farmers have been protesting at Maitighar since Sunday demanding to clear their dues of sugarcane.
